Un vecino del barrio Nanawa, de la ciudad de Fernando de la Mora, denunció que por sexta vez fue víctima del robo de accesorios de su vehículo. Asegura que, pese a realizar la denuncia policial y contar con cámaras y sistemas de seguridad, los hechos se repiten sin respuestas efectivas.
Fabián Martínez recounted that he has fallen victim to numerous thefts since moving to the neighborhood approximately two years ago. He expressed his frustration over the persistent attempts and successes of thieves in stealing various parts from his car, claiming not to remember the count of incidents that have occurred.
“I’ve become a regular customer at the repair shop as this is now the sixth time I’ve been robbed,” he remarked, emphasizing that he had to insure all the components of his vehicle due to the frequency of such events.
Incident captured on security footage
The latest theft was documented by security cameras, which showed a perpetrator taking their time to execute the theft. Martínez noted that the individual spent around 50 seconds tampering with the vehicle before making off with the rearview mirror and its cover.
In past incidents, he mentioned that thieves had attempted to break in but were thwarted by the security measures he had put in place.
Filing a police report yields little effect
Following the most recent incident, the victim filed a report with the National Police. He lamented that the usual response consists of promises for increased patrols in the area without any tangible results.
“They tell you they will send officers to check the area, but that’s where it stops,” he added, expressing disappointment in the lack of follow-up.
Widespread insecurity in the neighborhood
Martínez stressed that his situation is not an isolated case, noting that other residents have experienced similar thefts. He shared an account of a time when he caught a thief attempting to steal accessories from a nearby vehicle, who fled upon being spotted.
He pointed out that the neighborhood, located near the Market of Abasto and busy routes, attracts individuals who take advantage of the limited surveillance, especially during the night hours.
Alarms prove ineffective against crime
The victim explained that after his first incident, during which a window of his vehicle was broken, he decided to install an alarm. However, he noted that the system only activates when the car is opened, failing to protect against the tampering of external accessories, making it easier for criminals to operate.
